there is no such thing as ancient greek because each city state had pretty much their own dialect of the hellenic language. (hellenic being ans umbrella term like latin languages italian, spanich, prtuguese french romanian) that is why greek authors created the dictionary of Hesychius of alexandira "Greek to Greek" greek is an invention of the 6th century sorry~!

When you discuss the three aspects in Ancient Greek, I wonder why is there only an aorist in the past tense and not the present tense. That is, why is there no present time, simple aspect, indicative active tense in Ancient Greek? You can also see its absence clearly in Hansen and Quinn's table on page 41 of Greek: An Intensive Course. It is furthermore interesting that in future time, there is a simple aspect as well, but that it is fused together with the progressive/repeated aspect.
